What are We All going to do?. I have heard of fouled plugs, but not of one completely missing. The firing order, in case you are in need of it, is 1-3-7-2-6-5-4-8. My Mechanic has told me this is a big issue with Ford Motors from 1997-2005 Motors. Presuming the wires and plugs made no difference in the codes or condition, check the coil. The last type of spark plug tester looks like a spark plug with a grounding clip on the side, but there is no side electrode for the spark to jump to. Reconnect the plug wire to the spark plug and hold the metal base of the spark plug against the metal valve cover or the engine block something grounded while someone else cranks the engine over with the ignition switch for a few seconds. Pull a spark plug wire off a spark plug an stick a screw driver in the end an hold it near ground metal and have someone try to start the vehicle! Was someone paid off, or did Ford just blow it off hoping everyone would loose interest? I called a friend who is a mechanic and told him what happened. I'm reporting this one only because I do not know the dates of the other two times, my mechanic can probably look them up. Don't know if any place shows the routing of the plug wires. Cost to fix this time will be low side. The Neon Bulb type is connected to the spark plug wire and flashes with each ignition pulse.

Depending on where you are testing for spark, the coil could also be weak and not pushing the spark to the plugs. If all plug wires are dead, no spark, and the module has power and ground suspect crank angle sensor. This spark tester has an adjustable air-gap for measuring spark strength and testing different voltage ignition systems. Attach the clip to ground and crank the engine to check for spark.
