If its charging capacity drops too low, it may not hold enough power to start your vehicle. Front door sensor was not registering door open most of the time. I put a brand new alternator in and three days later my car died again. However, I think it has something to do with my system installation and the need for a capacitor. Now detach the two wires connected to the little pump motor inside the reservoir, and any bolts securing the reservoir to your car.
Replacing the alternator in the Nissan Maxima is tricky but important if the battery is not being charged sufficiently to power the vehicle. This is the second battery replacement. Once you have pulled those off, you'll find a couple friction fittings underneath, pull those out. After the hose is off, remove the bolts holding the thermostat housing in place. We were towed to the Nissan dealer and they diagnosed that the alternator was in need of repair. Replaced both low beam headlights as a precaution. There is a drain plug on the drivers side under the car, its right under the trans cooler lines, 2 lines to be exact, you can just unscrew it by hand because there is like a handle to it!!! The thermostat is on the right hand side of the engine. If the rotor is still in good shape and does not need resurfacing, reinstall it by tightening the hub nut to 174 foot-pounds.

This issue occurs over the course of a week, though. Remove the bolts securing the thermostat housing to the water pump inlet. Use a tire iron to unscrew the lug nuts then set the tires aside. The two main bolts that hold the starter, one was hard to unscrew, so used a wrench and a long pipe to extend the handle, so I could budge it, otherwise no real issue.
I am having a problem with my 2000 maxima. I recommend replacing coolant temp sensor at same time, it is located underneath thermostat… Coils Easy. There are two screws on each side. The fuse is located either under the dash or in the engine department. Then use the ratchet to tighten it back town carefully. Check out some of my other posts if you need more tips and info. Order one at my local shop, installed myself, no problems.
Remove the hub nut located in the center of the rotor with a torque wrench. So the time finally came and I decided to tackle it myself. If it makes noise or even tries to start then you know it's the starter. I was told that the radiator fan needed replacing and that was done. Although some batteries last much longer, most batteries begin breaking down chemically after four years, so you could experience dimmer headlights and other negative effects before you have a dead battery in your Maxima that you need to replace. It failed after 3 months, so shop had the parts supplier pay for everything including the tow. The starter assembly can be quickly pulled from a 1995 Nissan Maxima, and then can be further separated to replace one part of the starter assembly.
So I have my mechanic trying to figure it out. Downloaded tsb for both online. Find the bolts that hold the big black box that holds your air cleaner and loosen the hose clamp. Just to the sides of the light, inside the trunk, there is a nut angle upward in… 1 Disconnect negative battery cable. It is tight and the bottom bolt there are 2 holding the thermostat housing on is difficult with only partial turns using an open end wrench. Then few days ago, you had to try to start it twice, then on the 3rd time it would start.
Disconnect crossover pipe from forward exhaust manifold. I guess I'll wait till I'm stranded somewhere and then change it. Faulty brake switch was replaced. This sensor has been bad for a while, perhaps from 72k miles or so. Remove the air cleaner assembly. I mentioned it to the very young new mechanic and his response was that this was common, take it on the freeway for a while and it should clear up.
It fits and the tie down works normally. I had the same problem on 2000 maxima. Any subsequent tries, doesn't even crank now. First you will remove the bolt from the coil pack: Then remove the connector if necessary by pressing down the green clip until the connector releases. Replacing the battery in your Maxima involves removing the terminals. Problem was low battery voltage on tire sending unit. That trip took two hours.
Remove the top mounting bolts on the headlamp assembly 6. Yes, there are two 'thermostats' on the vehicle, but only one is the main thermostat that controls the engine coolant temperature. Replaced starter with another rebuilt starter. Remove them both and the starter will come out. It is not easy to get at and you need open ended wrenches.
